2020 USPS Postage Rate Changes
Here are new rate charts for the most popular USPS postage levels.
In the fall, the US Postal Service (USPS) announced its planned changes to postage rates for the coming year. Higher postal rates are tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from the Bureau of Labor Statistics which measures the change in prices paid by consumers over the previous year. Postal increases are limited to not exceed CPI.
New rates go into effect on Sunday, January 26, 2020. This rate change is timed to be similar to UPS® and FedEx® that historically adjust prices each January. For example, on January 6, 2020, FedEx will raise prices an average of 4.9%.
What is changing?
A big takeaway is that the First Class Mail® rates are staying the same with stamps still continuing to cost 55 cents.

- Priority Mail® Flat Rate products increase from 4.9% to 6.2%
- Priority Mail Express® rates to increase by 3.5%
- Priority Mail Express® Flat Rate products increase up to 16.3%
